McKayla Holmes

Licensed since 2020 and a Johnny B. educator since 2024, McKayla Holmes credits barbering as something that has allowed her to flourish into the person she always knew she could be. After graduating barber school in the midst of COVID, she stepped straight into a traditional barbershop environment the moment doors reopened, gaining experience that shaped her technique and her confidence, learning early on how to adapt, stay focused, and lean into her purpose.

Today, she thrives in a private studio where she’s created a space rooted in comfort, authenticity, and connection. Whether she’s helping clients navigate hair concerns or simply being a supportive presence during life’s tougher moments, she sees every appointment as an opportunity to uplift someone. Creativity fuels her work, but compassion guides it.

Her commitment to education extends beyond the basics, and it’s ultimately what led her to Johnny B. After seeing firsthand the team’s professionalism and energy at a trade show, McKayla set a personal goal to become part of it…and she did. She proudly represents the brand while staying engaged in the industry through classes, shows, and social media.

Looking forward, McKayla hopes to continue sharing what she’s learned, giving back to the community that’s embraced her while evolving with the industry she loves.
