Rocky Casillas

Being a barber is the only career Rocky Casillas has ever known. It all started in 11th grade when he was the unofficial barber for his high school football team, deciding after graduation in 2011 to turn down college sports and enroll in barber college. That singular focus, with no backup plan and no other options, is exactly what shaped him into the educator he is today.

His connection to Johnny B. is personal. The brand was already part of his life growing up, something his mother used on him and his brother. When Rocky had the opportunity to join the education team in 2024, he was able to meet the people behind the brand…and it felt like home. That combination of lifelong familiarity with the product, feeling as if he could show up as himself, and the genuine connection with the team made it an easy yes.

Rocky blends classic techniques with modern trends, both behind the chair and in front of a class. He meets every client the same way, talking to them like they've known each other for years to ensure they're comfortable before the service starts. His favorite cut is a mid fade with a side part, the same style that earned him the top prize in his first barber competition, a cut he completed in under nine minutes.

The most rewarding part of this career has always been the connection. Hearing clients' stories and watching someone's whole demeanor shift after sitting in the chair is a reminder that a haircut is never just a haircut. Rocky’s advice to anyone coming up: go in hungry to learn; put yourself out there, because staying in a box costs you opportunities; and stay true to yourself.
