Sergio Aranda

Sergio Aranda’s barbering journey began with a text from a friend who asked him to cover for him at the shop where he worked, and before he knew it, one day sweeping floors and running errands turned into six months immersed in a culture he had grown to love. He quickly enrolled in barber school and was licensed in 2015.

In addition to working behind the chair in Southern California, Aranda has been an educator for Johnny B. since 2018. He presents clipper cutting techniques and shear cutting technical skills at various classes and industry events hoping to inspire and motivate beauty professionals. He loves to teach as it reminds him of when he first started in the industry and the connections he made who encouraged him to keep going, to get better, and always reminded him he could do anything.

Aranda credits continuing education, industry publications, and social media for keeping his skills sharp in an ever-changing hair landscape. But it’s his partnership with Johnny B. that he’s most proud of. The sense of community, the insight, and the networking opportunities that have come his way are beyond anything he learned in school. His easy-going personality and excitement in sharing the knowledge he’s acquired is evident in every class he teaches.
